Yoruba Records is honoured to bring to you the incomparable Lady Alma. Coming from the roots of that Philly soul sound, she quickly became synonymous with house music. Her powerful voice and empowering lyrics lift generations to fully understand self-worth and self-love. Osunlade is a force within the foundation of house music. Born at the intersection of funk, jazz, blues and rock n roll, he injected new sounds into house with his pristine production and respect for the harmonizing roots of all music. These two dynamic souls join forces in an explosive song. eIts House Music takes us back to a time when one would stand in the alley of the warehouse district in sub-zero weather to hear the latest grooves of the night, dancing till dawn and emerging only for breakfast and a bed. eIts House Music will have you dancing all night long with its infectious hook and anthem to house music itself. The Feel It Mix transports the listener straight to the gospel roots of soul music. This iconic St. Louis sound incorporates layers of funky bass lines, Sunday morning hand claps and the good ole’ church organ, proving that indeed house is a spiritual thing on the dance floor. Lady Alma’s soul stirring powerhouse vocal perfectly marries the mood and movement of this multidimensional sonic offering. This mix will have the world passing the plate from the dance floors of Chicago, Detroit, New York and Philly to the shores of Cape Town and Nigeria. eIts House Music is simply a song that moves the body and connects souls to the diasporic journey of music. Karizma adopts his Kaytronik guise to take up remix duties with his Raw Dub Mix, taking the track into deep late night territory, accentuated perfectly by Lady Almas pristine vocals. Wolf + Lambs Sanctuary Remix tops the package off with their own take on eIts House Music; a percussive, groove laden ode to the original.

Sek - Prime Cuts: 02 [Sampler] (Lost My Dog, LMDLP012SAMP)
5,646 plays

Greek DJ and producer Sek is responsible for the second installment in Lost My Dog’s Prime Cuts mix compilation series, which began in 2013 with Dale Howard.

The concept for Prime Cuts is simple and sees a Lost My Dog artist select their favourite tracks from the label’s extensive catalogue, create a DJ mix and add a few of their own brand new productions. This sampler contains three brand new cuts from Sek – ‘DK’s Moo Thing’, ‘Chi To Go Moodz’ and ‘Just Ducky’ – ahead of the full mixed compilation which includes tracks and remixes by Ian Pooley, Pezzner, Pete Dafeet, YSE, Mr. V and James Dexter.

The sampler containing the three new Sek tracks will be released on 2nd June, and the full compilation on 16th June.

Lost My Dog’s Pete Dafeet says, “Sek first caught our ear here at Lost My Dog with outings on Off Recordings and Kommunity. An initial track on our ‘Sonar Musica 2012’ sampler paved the way for two four-track EPs in 2013, ‘These Dayz’ and ‘Fergasm’, which cemented our fondness of the Athens-based producer. Before we knew it we had the completed mix for Prime Cuts in our hands and three more brilliant new tracks from Sek that we can’t stop playing.”

More than “just” a DJ/Producer, Sek is a multi-instrumentalist who describes his music as “a blend of deep and tech house, always with a raw and abstract sensation/perspective, the dominant ingredients of my life.”

The White Stripes - Hardest Button To Button (2003)

We started living in an old house
My ma gave birth and we were checking it out
It was a baby boy, so we bought him a toy
It was a ray gun and it was 1981

We named him Baby, he had a toothache
He started crying, it sounded like an earthquake
It didn’t last long because I stopped it
I grabbed a rag doll and stuck some little pins in it

Now were a family and were alright now
We got money and a little place to fight now
We don’t know you and we don’t owe you
But if you see us around I got something else to show you

Now, its easy when you don’t know better
You think its sleazy? Then put it in a short letter
We keep warm but theres just something wrong
When you just feel that youre the hardest little button to button

I had opinions that didn’t matter
I had a brain that felt like pancake batter
I got a backyard with nothing in it
Except a stick, a dog and a box with something in it

The hardest button to button
The hardest button to button
The hardest button to button
The hardest button to button, uh oh

The hardest button to button
The hardest button to button, uh oh
The hardest button to button

The hardest button to button
The hardest button to button
The hardest button to button
The hardest button to button, oh no
